Embankment is a Series A-funded, regulated fintech company providing tech-enabled fund administration software to replace manual processes and fragmented systems. The company operates under Danish and Luxembourg regulation and serves institutional investors and fund managers.
You will own internal IT end-to-end, including identity and access management (Entra ID, Microsoft 365), Intune-managed device fleet (Mac and Windows), network and office IT, SaaS and license management, employee onboarding/offboarding, and vendor relationships. You report to the CTO and work closely with the IT compliance function as part of the broader tech organization alongside engineering and product.
Key responsibilities include:
- Run IT operations so employees can focus on their work: ensure new hires have working laptops and correct access on day one, handle access requests same-day, complete offboarding same-day with full evidence, and maintain meeting rooms, printers, and Wi-Fi.
- Own and harden the Microsoft tenant: configure and maintain Entra ID, Conditional Access, privileged access management, device compliance via Intune, managed applications, Defender, Purview, and other Microsoft 365 components. Establish a security baseline (Secure Score, CIS, or custom), close gaps in priority order, and prevent configuration drift.
- Build agents for IT automation: extend the company's existing AI agents to handle everyday IT support and tenant hardening, with every change approved, logged, and fully accountable.
- Ensure IT controls meet regulatory requirements: work with the IT compliance function to translate DORA, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, and other regulatory frameworks into necessary IT controls and evidence. Prioritize remediation against competing IT demands.
- Manage the IT estate and budget: maintain SaaS inventory, track licenses and hardware lifecycle, manage vendors and contracts, and optimize spending.
- Shape the function: plan the evolution of the IT team as the company grows, determining structure and hiring needs.
You are hands-on and expected to do the work yourself, not just delegate. Much of the role involves judgment: prioritizing small requests, incidents, security gaps, and compliance findings, deciding what gets fixed immediately, what gets fixed properly, and what gets logged for later review.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience as an IT Manager or Senior IT Lead in a scale-up or larger company, with exposure to growth, audits, or regulatory processes.
- Deep knowledge of Entra ID, Intune, and Microsoft 365 (identity and device management).
- Generalist mindset with strong scripting skills (PowerShell preferred for Microsoft environments, but pragmatic about tool choice).
- Ability to distinguish incidents from projects from compliance findings and treat them appropriately.
- Hands-on approach; comfortable with known imperfections parked in backlog while moving forward.
- Daily experience with AI agents and willingness to build and take responsibility for agent-driven IT automation.
- Clear communication skills across technical staff, auditors, and leadership.
- Nice to have: experience with DORA, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, or ISAE 3000; background in financial services or regulated industries; familiarity with GCP. Danish language not required; English is the working language.
