The client base includes 5 of the 10 largest private equity firms globally, representing over $3 trillion in combined AUM. You will be DiligenceSquared's first commercial leader, building and leading go-to-market strategy directly with the founders. The role is hands-on and builder-focused: you'll personally originate and close business before scaling the team and systems. Key responsibilities include: - Winning new clients through targeted outbound strategy, qualified pipeline development, and closing from first conversation through proposal - Growing existing accounts by developing relationships across sector teams, strategies and offices within current funds - Owning strategic relationships with deal professionals and senior decision-makers through insights and understanding of their work - Shaping solutions by partnering with founders and delivery leaders to understand client needs, scope engagements, develop proposals and price appropriately - Building the commercial system: establishing account planning, pipeline management, CRM discipline, forecasting, handoffs and performance measurement - Partnering with marketing to convert content, events, partnerships and inbound interest into pipeline - Building the team: determining next GTM hires, recruiting, coaching and creating clear ownership across new business and account expansion The business model is built on high-value, project-based engagements. Success starts with earning the first mandate, delivering exceptional client experience and expanding trust across deal teams, strategies and offices to build durable fund-wide relationships. REQUIREMENTS: - At least 8 years of relevant commercial experience, including selling to sophisticated institutional clients and leading commercial people - Proven revenue ownership: personally originated and closed meaningful business with accountability for team or company-level revenue targets - Experience building a commercial function: hired and coached commercial talent, established repeatable approach to account planning, pipeline management, forecasting, CRM discipline, handoffs and performance measurement - Private equity fluency: understand how PE deal teams work, what creates demand for commercial diligence and research, and how buying decisions are made - Hands-on leadership: excited to originate and close business yourself before and while building the team - Excellent judgment with senior clients: can lead substantive conversations with PE professionals, recognize real opportunities and earn next steps - Commercial discipline: follow through, ask directly for business, balance revenue growth with strong project economics and high-quality client experience - Close founder partnership: can challenge assumptions, make decisions with incomplete information, work closely with founders and delivery leaders PLUS EXPERIENCE: - Commercial due diligence, private equity or strategy consulting - Selling research, expert-network, advisory or technology-enabled services to investment teams - Strong network across private equity deal teams - Previous startup experience
