Adyen is seeking a Head of Growth for Scheme Compliance—a strategic leadership role bridging compliance, product, partnerships, and commercial strategy. You will lead a globally distributed team responsible for unlocking new products, markets, local payment methods, and partner models while maintaining scalable, well-controlled solutions.
Key responsibilities include leading and scaling a global team focused on growth initiatives across products and geographies; defining growth strategy in collaboration with cross-functional leaders to prioritize product launches, market expansion, and payment method onboarding; partnering with Commercial and Sales to translate merchant demand into growth priorities and build decisions; and working closely with Product and Engineering to embed compliance requirements into systems rather than manual processes.
You will define and standardize operating models for new business lines with clear control points and monitoring requirements; drive cross-functional programs across Commercial, Partnerships, Legal, Risk, and Product to accelerate time-to-market; and act as an escalation point for complex growth opportunities, balancing speed, risk, and commercial impact. The role involves identifying friction in existing payments compliance or partner requirements and proactively designing solutions to unlock growth.
You will establish decision-making frameworks ensuring consistency across regions, build playbooks and training programs to increase organizational fluency in growth-related compliance, and design scalable solutions for merchants whose business models don't fit standard network mandates.
Ideal candidates bring a strong product mindset with experience translating regulatory and scheme requirements into system behavior and configuration rules; proven experience leading global, cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders; and deep understanding of payments ecosystems including card networks, alternative payment methods, and acquiring models. You should demonstrate ability to design platform-level guardrails, balance growth against regulatory and operational risk, and influence senior leaders across functions. Experience building and coaching high-performing teams in strategic and execution-focused roles is essential.
