Adyen is seeking a Head of Global Credit Risk to lead a pivotal global leadership position within the Operations function. This role oversees the execution of credit risk management strategies across Adyen's acquiring business (chargeback risk) and issuing/financial products (capital lending, charge cards). You will lead and scale a high-performing global team across Amsterdam, Singapore, and Chicago, ensuring consistency in decision-making while accounting for regional market differences. Key responsibilities include: overseeing daily monitoring and manual review of high-exposure merchants within the Merchant Potential Liability (MPL) and Credit Risk frameworks; serving as the final operational escalation point for edge-case approvals and high-risk merchant decisions; acting as chair of the Merchant Risk Committee (MRC) and member of the Risk Committee (RC); directing the global Collections function to ensure swift and effective recovery when risks materialize; and using operational data to influence changes to Credit Models, Risk Policies, and Risk Appetite. You will bridge the gap between commercial ambition and financial prudence, maintaining tight partnerships with Product teams to ensure risk tools are fit-for-purpose and with Second Line Risk to ensure operational alignment with corporate governance. This is an evolving and growing pillar of Adyen's business as the company aggressively scales its suite of financial products. Required qualifications: 8+ years of credit risk leadership experience within Fintech, high-volume payments, or banking; deep, practical understanding of credit risk management for financial products with direct experience in capital lending, commercial loans, and charge cards preferred; strong grasp of merchant lifecycle, bankruptcy risk, and lending/underwriting mechanics; experience managing global, multi-region teams preferred; excellent communication skills to translate complex credit risks into actionable proposals for executive committees; proactive problem-solving mindset.
