Simbe Robotics is a leading retail technology company providing in-store intelligence solutions through autonomous robots, computer vision systems, and multimodal data platforms that help retailers improve inventory availability, shelf execution, pricing accuracy, and operational performance.
Reporting to the COO, you will own financial planning, forecasting, and the financial narrative for the Board, investors, and lenders. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role with direct ownership of the financial model and numbers, operating with startup speed while building IPO-ready planning, reporting, and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the Model, Budget & Cash: Build and continuously evolve Simbe's 3-statement financial model; run scenario analysis on pricing, hiring, capex, and deployment pace to guide business decisions. Lead annual budgeting and quarterly re-forecasting cycles across departments; track actuals vs. budget monthly and flag material variances. Assess headcount and investment needs, building data-backed business cases. Own the cash forecast with rolling short- and long-range views, tightening cash monitoring and collection cycles.
Own Board, Investor & Lender Reporting: Build monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) and own relevant Board deck sections. Respond to investor and lender reporting requests; manage relationships with financing partners on debt tied to manufacturing and operations; support borrowing formula and compliance reporting. Support fundraising strategy, due-diligence follow-up, and maintain the data room with IPO-ready rigor.
Drive Business Performance & Systems: Represent Finance in monthly S&OP processes; define and instrument vital business metrics; own the balanced scorecard. Drive insights into the business—not just reporting trends, but pushing specific changes in pricing, spend, and operations that move financial results. Partner with department leaders (Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, Product) to pressure-test numbers, flag spend trends, and drive cost discipline. Own and advance Planful adoption, new use cases, and integrations; push AI and automation into forecasting, reporting, and reconciliation work.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including FP&A leadership in high-growth technology companies
- Experience owning a company-wide financial model and running scenario analysis for executive decision-making
- Experience running Board reporting and supporting fundraising, investor, and/or lender relationships
- Experience with cash forecasting, cash collection cycle management, and disciplined cash management
- Detail-oriented with ability to zoom out; equally comfortable in the model and in front of management
- Strong, direct communicator who can partner cross-functionally with executive leadership
- Hands-on experience owning an FP&A/planning platform (Planful strongly preferred; Adaptive Insights, Pigment, or Anaplan also relevant); ability to drive adoption, new use cases, and efficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with BI/reporting tools (Looker, Tableau)
- Experience managing venture debt or banking relationships
- Experience with Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) or similar processes connecting operating plans to financial plans
- Experience with hardware, SaaS, subscription, or hardware-as-a-service business models; robotics or connected devices a plus
- Venture-backed or private-equity-backed company experience
- Demonstrated experience applying AI tooling to finance, accounting, or tax workflows
