Halter is a climate-tech company enabling farmers and graziers to run productive and sustainable operations through innovative grazing management technology. Backed by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, DCVC, and others, the company is scaling globally with South America as a critical growth frontier.
You will be the founding finance leader for Halter's South America region, based in Buenos Aires. This is a build role—the finance function doesn't exist yet, and you own standing it up from the ground up. You'll report to the VP of FP&A and have full autonomy over how the region's finance function takes shape.
Responsibilities span the complete finance stack: establishing the legal entity and control framework; managing tax structuring, statutory compliance, and audits across Argentina and the broader region; building FP&A capability including planning, forecasting, and management reporting; partnering with the regional GM and sales leadership on revenue planning; managing treasury, cash, FX, and liquidity in a volatile currency environment; and building the team as the region scales. You'll be the finance voice at the regional leadership table, ensuring decisions are backed by trusted numbers and clear strategic insight.
You must bring senior finance leadership experience spanning both controllership/compliance and FP&A—you've owned the full stack, not just one slice. Strong knowledge of Argentine and South American tax, statutory audit, and regulatory environments is essential. You need strong financial modeling and planning capability, fluency in Spanish and English, and the seniority and presence to partner with leadership while operating independently. A genuine builder's instinct is critical—you're energized by standing something up, not maintaining it.
Nice-to-haves include experience setting up finance functions in new markets, exposure to high-inflation or complex-currency environments, SaaS or hardware-enabled SaaS background, and a track record of using AI to create leverage across finance.
Success means a solid compliance backbone (clean, on-time tax and audit work), leadership running on trusted numbers, sharp revenue planning that guides regional scaling, and building a team and function that outlasts any one person.
