Narmi is a fintech platform enabling community financial institutions to deliver modern digital banking, account opening, and lending capabilities. The company has powered billions in transactions and hundreds of thousands of account openings for banks and credit unions across the US.
As Head of Design, you will lead the design function and shape the visual and experiential direction of Narmi's product suite. You'll manage a team of 3-5 product designers, mentoring them toward excellence while maintaining hands-on involvement in key design decisions. Your responsibilities include:
**Design Vision & Strategy**: Develop and execute a unified design vision across multiple products, working closely with Product Management and Engineering to ensure cohesive, user-centered experiences that align with business objectives.
**Team Leadership**: Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing design team. Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and quality. Recruit talent, establish clear growth paths, and champion inclusive hiring practices.
**Process & Systems**: Establish design processes, methodologies, and design systems that enable scalable, efficient product development without sacrificing quality.
**Cross-functional Collaboration**: Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure design strategies support go-to-market initiatives and address real customer needs.
**Strategic Alignment**: Work with executive leadership to balance design ambition with technical constraints, ensuring design decisions support both user experience and business goals.
You bring proven experience building and leading design teams, ideally in SaaS or metric-driven products. You have a track record of shaping product strategy at the executive level, mentoring design leaders, and conducting user research. You're proficient in Figma and modern design tools, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience in fintech is a bonus. You must be located in or willing to relocate to the NYC metro area.
