Cohere, a leading enterprise AI company, is seeking a Head of Corporate Development to drive strategic growth through M&A, partnerships, and market expansion. This is a VP-level role building the corporate development function from the ground up at a well-funded, global AI infrastructure company.
You will lead M&A strategy, evaluating and executing acquisitions in compute infrastructure, specialized AI capabilities, and regulatory compliance tools. You'll manage full due diligence and post-merger integration across technical and business dimensions, working closely with product, engineering, legal, and finance teams.
Market expansion is a core focus: you'll develop entry strategies for new verticals and geographies, particularly in regulated industries and government sectors. You'll create partnership frameworks addressing sovereignty and compliance requirements, and partner with sales and marketing on joint go-to-market strategies.
Strategic partnerships are central to the role. You'll identify and negotiate transformative alliances with telcos, hardware infrastructure providers, cloud platforms, and government entities. You'll develop on-premise and edge deployment partnerships for customers requiring data sovereignty, and leverage relationships with enterprise software vendors to enhance Cohere's AI offerings.
You'll work cross-functionally with government relations and policy teams to navigate complex regulatory landscapes, particularly around export controls and compliance frameworks relevant to sovereign AI deployment.
The ideal candidate brings 12+ years in corporate development, strategic partnerships, or investment banking at technology companies, with proven success in AI, SaaS, or enterprise software deals. You should have direct experience with sovereign AI deployments, regulatory compliance, and government partnerships. Strong negotiation skills, financial modeling expertise, and an extensive network in AI/enterprise tech ecosystems are essential. You'll demonstrate a track record of executing M&A transactions that integrated complementary technologies and delivered measurable revenue impact.
