Salary: USD 145,000 - 240,000 / annual
Swarm Aero is building the world's largest swarming UAV and most versatile swarming aircraft network, along with Command & Control software to mobilize swarms of thousands of heterogeneous autonomous assets. The company is moving rapidly to launch the first aircraft designed specifically for swarming operations.
As a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer, you will lead the creation of control systems for the company's aircraft. You will establish processes and tools for vehicle modeling, GNC algorithm development, and serve as a critical component in testing and validating aircraft across simulation, subscale, ground, and full-scale flight test environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and refining algorithms for flight control, payload management, and autonomy
- Enhancing design and analysis tools to improve workflow efficiency and promote quality
- Improving simulation models with higher-fidelity definitions to support GNC development and testing
- Testing and validating GNC systems across multiple test phases from simulation through full-scale flight
The team includes aerospace veterans from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic, with a track record of creating and exiting multiple startups, negotiating defense deals worth billions, and designing and building 30+ novel aircraft.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in control systems development
- Experience developing control systems for aircraft
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for algorithm development, dynamic system modeling, and system performance analysis
- Preferred: 7+ years of aircraft development experience, experience working in small teams supporting rapid development, and full aircraft development cycle experience (Design – Build – Test)
