Salary: USD 176,000 - 220,000 / annual

Temporal is an open-source programming model that simplifies code, improves application reliability, and helps developers deliver features faster. The company is building the reliable foundation for every developer's toolbox. The GTM Compensation and Insights Manager owns the design, administration, and analysis of Temporal's sales compensation programs, reporting to the Director of GTM Strategy and Analytics. This role combines operational rigor with analytical depth across multiple compensation domains. Key responsibilities include: Commission Operations: Run the end-to-end monthly commission process, calculating payouts and handling edge cases such as consumption spikes, departing customers, and windfall situations. Produce monthly Commission Review Decks for sales and finance leadership. Triage disputes and questions from reps and managers with timely resolution. SPIF & Incentive Design: Design, track, and troubleshoot SPIFs across segments including New Logo, Growth, Consumption, Manager, SA, BDR, and Commit. Structure payout mechanics (ARR-based vs. actual consumption), set rates, and handle retroactive adjustments. Comp Plan Design & Administration: Write and issue compensation plans for AEs, BDRs, managers, and SAs, including quota setting and base commission rate calculations. Handle proration for mid-year hires, changes, promotions, or role shifts. Compensation Policy & Governance: Draft and propose new compensation policies such as commission leave policy. Interpret existing terms and conditions, raise edge cases for leadership approval, and evaluate/implement commission software (e.g., CaptivateIQ). Compensation Insights & Analysis: Monitor rep-level attainment, flag outliers such as reps hitting 100%+ quota from single accounts, and evaluate windfall provisions. Partner with GTM Analytics to ensure compensation data integrity across systems. Required qualifications: 5-7 years in sales compensation, commissions, or comp operations, ideally in B2B SaaS or consumption-based business. Strong Excel/Google Sheets modeling skills; SQL or BI tool experience preferred. Experience with commission platforms (CaptivateIQ, Xactly, or similar) and Salesforce. High attention to detail, comfort with monthly deadline-driven processes, ability to translate ambiguous policy questions into clear decisions, and strong written communication skills.
