Rare Candy is a leading marketplace for trading card games (Pokémon, MTG, Lorcana, and more) used by millions of collectors to buy, sell, and showcase their collections. The company grew nearly 30x last year and is scaling rapidly. You will own the programmatic SEO roadmap and build operation, taking their existing blog (which drives over 1 million search impressions weekly) to the next level through automation and AI-generated pages. The company has rich data on every card, set, product, and price—your job is to build the system that creates pages at scale while maintaining quality. Key responsibilities include: - Identifying high-value page types and keyword clusters from existing blog performance - Building and scaling programmatic pages using automation tools and AI, starting with Pokémon sets, then MTG, Lorcana, and Riftbound - Establishing quality-control workflows for accuracy, duplication, and brand voice across thousands of pages - Collaborating with engineering on structured data, indexing, and technical SEO - Tracking rankings, impressions, organic traffic, activation, and revenue - Partnering with the lifecycle team on email, push, segmentation, activation, and retention campaigns - Running weekly SEO production and performance reviews - Testing retention initiatives (e.g., bonus incentives) Success milestones: By day 30, you'll understand what drives conversions in the blog and have mapped programmatic opportunities. By day 90, your roadmap is approved, first page types are live, quality workflows are running, and you're shipping lifecycle campaigns. By year-end, programmatic pages cover multiple games and represent meaningful organic signup volume, with a clear path to owning activation or retention. You'll report to the Director of Growth and work closely with the engineering team. The role includes a monthly dogfooding budget to spend on cards. REQUIREMENTS: - 2–4 years in SEO, organic growth, lifecycle marketing, or related growth roles - Hands-on SEO experience on large or data-heavy sites (programmatic SEO experience is a strong plus) - Comfort building with automation and AI tools at scale - Proficiency with Google Search Console, analytics tools, and keyword research tools - Experience working with large datasets and templates - Experience with email, push, segmentation, or retention campaigns (even if not primary responsibility) - Understanding of where AI fails and ability to build quality checks - Strong project management skills; ability to keep timelines moving and communicate status proactively - Self-directed quality assurance; brings decisions rather than drafts BONUS: Marketplace or catalog-heavy site experience; familiarity with Customer.io, Iterable, or similar lifecycle platforms; passion for Pokémon, TCGs, collectibles, or enthusiast communities.
