Top Hat is seeking a Group Product Manager to lead and own core product domains of their platform serving millions of students and thousands of instructors in higher education. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role reporting to executive leadership with responsibility for defining long-term product vision, strategy, and roadmap across a portfolio while managing a team of Product Managers.
Key responsibilities include strategic leadership of your product portfolio—defining vision, driving product-market fit, conducting customer research, and building compelling business cases that connect investments to revenue and retention. You'll lead through influence across Engineering, Design, Data, GTM, Customer Success, and Marketing, building coalitions and holding your position when senior stakeholders push back.
You'll own people leadership and coaching, growing your PMs through clear feedback, meaningful 1:1s, and developing their judgment rather than substituting your own. You'll set direction and standards, then delegate with trust while holding teams accountable to outcomes.
Execution and delivery are critical: shipping high-quality products on time, moving fast with strong judgment on value vs. risk tradeoffs, maintaining technical independence (spinning up MVMs, pulling data from databases, validating hypotheses), and operating confidently against the seasonal academic calendar where term-start deadlines are immovable.
You'll conduct customer discovery using prototypes to validate ideas with real users early and often, recruit customer design partners, and stand up pilot programs.
Required: 5+ years of product management experience with 1+ years in a management role; demonstrated experience coaching and growing product managers including early-career hires; technical fluency with SQL, APIs, BI tools, and AI tools; track record of shipping complex cross-functional products on time; experience building business cases with financial projections and ROI analysis; experience with AI-assisted development tools.
Bonus experience includes EdTech/SaaS/B2B2C, leading integrations or complex multi-product initiatives, accounts/billing/provisioning product areas, or mobile product management.
