Upway is a high-growth, venture-backed startup making electric mobility accessible through the refurbishment and online sale of second-hand e-bikes. Operating across France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United States, the company is scaling rapidly and building out its financial infrastructure. This is a hands-on, central accounting role focused on strengthening the accounting department's operational capacity and ensuring accurate, auditable financial data across all international entities. You will own critical accounting processes that directly support the company's multi-country operations. Key responsibilities include: - End-to-end processing of customer receipts (cash application) and supplier invoices across the multi-entity ledger system - Review and audit of wire transfers and bank payments to external parties for compliance and accuracy - Reconciliation and control of fixed assets, inventory movements, and other balance sheet accounts - Verification that all accounting operations comply with local regulations and group internal policies - Preparation and submission of tax returns (VAT, etc.) across operating countries - Documentation and structuring of financial processes to support international scaling You will work closely with both finance and non-finance teams to build scalable, compliant accounting infrastructure. This role offers exposure to multi-country accounting, startup operations, and the opportunity to shape financial processes as the company grows. Required qualifications: Accounting degree or equivalent (Bac+3 or higher); solid accounting experience, ideally in a startup or international environment; fluency in English and French; strong knowledge of accounting principles and local GAAP; meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication abilities. German or Dutch language skills are a plus but not required.
