Adyen is seeking a Group Financial Controller to join its Group Finance team in Amsterdam. This role offers a unique opportunity to redesign financial processes from the ground up, moving beyond routine data production to drive financial excellence across Adyen's global footprint.
Key responsibilities include partnering with FinOps and Financial Data Teams to optimize core accounting processes using automation tools like Workday Accounting Center and Workiva, enabling a continuous and low-touch close while maintaining strong controls. You will partner with Tax and FinOps teams to maintain a scalable intercompany framework and manage reconciliations. As the single point of contact for Group External Auditors, you will lead audit readiness, manage group audit deliverables, and play a leading role in the audit firm rotation process.
You will own the monthly consolidated P&L one-pager (Net Revenue and EBITDA), explaining variances with clear business context and building validation tools. Additional responsibilities include reviewing and approving balance sheet reconciliations, owning month-end close activities, coordinating and setting consolidated and regional materiality thresholds, and continuously upskilling GL accountants and other Controllers on core processes.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5+ years of experience in financial control, accounting, or external audit (Big 4 experience is a strong plus). You should have an analytical mindset, experience managing complex multi-entity global accounting, intercompany settlements, cross-border flows, and transfer pricing. Strong IFRS knowledge and experience managing complex external audits are essential. A track record in process optimization and automation, with experience in Workday, Workday Accounting Center, Workiva, or similar ERP systems, is highly valued. You must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and think critically and creatively to implement scalable solutions during Adyen's rapid growth.
