Slip Robotics builds autonomous robots for warehouse, manufacturing, and defense depot operations. The company recently secured an Air Force contract for aircraft maintenance and is scaling its government business through a Phase II SBIR award.
As Government Capture Lead, you will own the full lifecycle of government business development—from opportunity identification through contract award. Your primary focus is converting the current Air Force SBIR Phase II into a Phase III award, expanding to additional depots and commands, and building a sustainable pipeline of defense and federal opportunities.
You will report to the Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Operating Officer, working closely with engineering to translate customer requirements into technical specifications and proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute Phase III strategy for the Air Force SBIR, including sponsor identification, funding source analysis, contracting pathway selection, and timeline planning.
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities across SBIR/STTR, Other Transaction Authorities (OTAs), Cooperative Security Objectives (CSOs), prize challenges, and defense logistics/depot commands; make disciplined bid/no-bid decisions.
- Manage proposal development end-to-end: compliance verification, win strategy development, pricing input, and on-time delivery.
- Establish and nurture teaming relationships with prime contractors and systems integrators for opportunities requiring partnership.
- Maintain current SAM.gov registration, compliance baseline (CMMC, Section 889, ITAR, Buy American), and pipeline management.
- Translate customer requirements into clear technical and operational asks for the engineering team.
- Travel 25–40% to customer sites, conferences, and government facilities.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of direct experience in DoD capture, proposals, or contracting.
- Demonstrated track record of winning SBIR Phase III awards or follow-on production contracts (with named awards as evidence).
- Experience scaling a small defense-tech company or supporting one through growth phases.
- Ability to write and present proposals and briefings that drive action from senior government stakeholders.
- Strong commitment to procurement integrity and ethics; understanding of non-disclosure obligations and competitor confidentiality rules.
- Willingness to travel 25–40% annually.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Military or civilian background in logistics, depot maintenance, Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC), or Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) operations.
- Familiarity with robotics, autonomy, or material handling technologies.
- Experience with GSA schedules and DCAA-compliant pricing models.
