Freehand is a Series C AI company building autonomous agents that replace human decision-making and coordination in enterprise software, serving Fortune 100 customers including Apple, Meta, GE, and Pfizer. You'll be the first dedicated US talent hire, owning Freehand's recruiting strategy end-to-end as a strategic partner to the CEO and co-founders.
Your core responsibilities include: developing and executing the US talent strategy from scratch, including interview processes, scorecards, and hiring standards; leading recruiting across three priority areas—building the SF-based engineering/product team, GTM roles (marketing, sales, pre-sales), and upgrading Professional Services/Deployment Strategists; bringing market intelligence to every search by researching realistic talent availability and refining job descriptions with hiring managers before sourcing; building employer brand and EVP for a technical but not-yet-widely-known brand through storytelling, public presence, and community engagement; sourcing creatively beyond LinkedIn to reach top 1-2% talent through niche communities, events, alternative platforms, and AI-assisted methods; partnering on retention and culture by feeding market insights back into people policies; and flexing hiring pace to business needs, with senior/leadership searches as the core mandate.
You'll thrive in a lean, senior IC role that requires building systems and processes from scratch while leveraging AI tools and partners. The company operates on five core principles: Context Before Confidence, Decisions not Recommendations, High Agency/High Trust, Accountability is the Product, and The Work That Remains is the Work That Matters. Freehand is ~100 people across the US and India, with a Work Anywhere remote-first culture and quarterly all-hands trips to office hubs. Benefits include unlimited vacation, full health coverage, life/disability insurance, HSA/FSA, 401(k) with 4% match, and fully-paid parental leave.
