Anduril Industries is seeking a Global Sourcing Manager for Mechanical Fabrication to serve as the domain expert for mechanical commodities (machining, sheet metal, etc.). This is a high-impact role responsible for securing critical components, materials, and services that power Anduril's defense technology products.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing commodity strategies focused on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply chain resilience. You will own end-to-end delivery of quality parts at the right cost and lead RFI/RFQ/RFP processes for mechanical fabrication. The role involves managing business relationships with external contract manufacturers, ensuring continuity of supply, managing risk, negotiating costs, and executing new product introduction to manufacturing operations.
You will partner closely with engineering teams and contract manufacturers to influence technical design specifications and customize manufacturing requirements. The position requires detailed analysis of quote submissions using total cost of ownership (TCO) frameworks and data-driven decision-making. You'll work across cross-functional teams to support prototype requirements, execute build milestones, and lead sourcing activities.
Additional responsibilities include negotiating key supplier agreements covering pricing, quality, flexibility, delivery, payment, warranty, and service terms; developing and executing commercial agreements; conducting regular technology reviews to executive staff; managing supplier performance metrics (delivery, quality, cost, innovation); and serving as the primary escalation point for mechanical commodities.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, or related technical field; 3+ years of experience in supply chain commodity management of mechanical fabrication manufacturing and/or sourcing engineering; ability to travel up to 50%; ability to relocate to Costa Mesa, CA if not already local.
Preferred qualifications include a degree in mechanical or metallurgical/materials engineering; prior experience in defense, aerospace, automotive, or high-tech industries; expertise in TCO analysis; strategic thinking with commodities strategy/roadmap development; proven cross-functional leadership and communication skills; and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS/SCI clearance.
