BillionToOne is a publicly traded genomics company transforming prenatal and cancer diagnostics. UNITY is their flagship non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) that detects inherited disorders like sickle cell disease, spinal muscular atrophy, and cystic fibrosis directly from maternal blood. You will serve as General Supervisor for the clinical laboratory operations team, leading a growing CLIA-certified lab responsible for processing pregnancy blood samples in a high-complexity, high-growth environment. This is an onsite, Monday-Friday PM shift role (with 20% shift differential) reporting to the Director of Laboratory Operations. Key responsibilities include: - Lead daily clinical laboratory supervision aligned with company values and mission - Manage CLIA direct reports including Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) and Clinical Laboratory Assistants - Oversee pre-analytical and analytical operations, scheduling, and troubleshooting - Drive continuous process improvement projects: reagent quality control, tech transfer, training, and validations - Facilitate cross-functional communication between laboratory teams and other departments - Participate in recruiting and hiring to meet growing sample volume demands - Foster collaborative team environment for continuous skill development - Own and execute company objectives and key results Required qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences - Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (ASCP, CGMBS, or generalist) - Minimum 4–5 years CLS experience in clinical settings (molecular and/or high-complexity lab experience preferred) - Proven supervisory experience with direct lab staff management - Hands-on expertise with manual molecular biology protocols: DNA extraction, PCR, automated liquid handlers - Proficiency with Google Docs, Word, Excel, basic statistics, LIMS systems, and Next-Generation Sequencing - Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills - Excellent attention to detail and ability to work flexibly under tight timeframes Nice-to-haves: prior CLIA General Supervisor experience, startup background, medical genetics knowledge, cell-free DNA experience.
