Convene is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the opening and long-term operations of Convene Rathbone, a 54,000-square-foot premium meetings and events venue launching in Spring 2027 in London's West End. This is a pre-opening leadership role with end-to-end responsibility for establishing operational foundations, building high-performing teams, and shaping the venue's culture and reputation.
You will provide executive direction across multidisciplinary teams including Hospitality Operations, Culinary, Event Planning, Sales, AV Production, Workplace Experience, and Reception. Key responsibilities include recruiting and developing talent, overseeing payroll and HR compliance, establishing the venue's strategic operating plan, and driving financial performance through P&L management and revenue optimization.
On the operations side, you will champion seamless event delivery from intimate gatherings to large-scale, high-production conferences and brand showcases. You'll maintain rigorous operational standards, oversee building operations and maintenance, and build trusted client relationships. Commercially, you'll partner with the centralized sales and marketing team to develop integrated strategies that drive revenue growth, maximize occupancy, and strengthen market positioning.
You'll also lead strategic planning initiatives to implement industry best practices, ensure the venue remains innovative and benchmark-setting, and support long-term growth. This role requires strong hospitality leadership experience, proven ability to manage complex operations at scale, commercial acumen, and a passion for creating exceptional guest experiences. The ideal candidate has opened or scaled premium event venues, excels at team building and culture development, and can balance operational excellence with commercial performance.
