Salary: USD 130,000 - 165,000 / annual
Via is a transportation technology company that builds AI-powered software and operations solutions to modernize public transit systems globally. As General Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of Via's intermodal transit service in Rochester, MN—a first-of-its-kind deployment where you'll build the operation from the ground up rather than follow an established playbook.
You will manage on-site teams of dispatchers and shift managers, serving as the real-time operational point of contact for drivers, dispatchers, and external partners. Key responsibilities include: prioritizing and solving operational issues creatively; managing round-the-clock scheduling; developing and mentoring your team; building relationships with drivers, customers, community leaders, and local organizations; liaising with Via senior leadership; establishing clear KPIs and weekly performance visibility; analyzing data to improve processes and efficiency; ensuring regulatory compliance; and fostering a collaborative, customer-focused culture.
This role demands an experienced operator with 6–8 years of background and a Bachelor's degree. You are a self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, high-responsibility environments. You communicate tactfully and intuitively, with exceptional leadership skills and 3–5 years of proven team management experience. You are detail-oriented, action-driven, adaptable to rapid change, and comfortable operating autonomously. You excel at managing multiple priorities, delegating effectively, and solving problems creatively without accepting the status quo.
This is an on-site role in Rochester, MN. Compensation: $130,000–$165,000 annually, plus equity and variable pay where applicable. Benefits include free medical plans and 401(k) matching.
