Salary: USD 110,000 - 160,000 / annual
Via Transportation is seeking a General Manager to lead on-site operations of an innovative intermodal transit service in Chemung County, NY. This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role where you'll build and scale operations from the ground up rather than follow an established playbook.
You will manage daily operations across a round-the-clock service, serving as the real-time point of contact for drivers, dispatchers, and shift managers. Key responsibilities include: overseeing scheduling and resource allocation for operational teams; developing and mentoring on-site staff; building relationships with driver partners, customers, community leaders, and local organizations; liaising with Via senior management and external partners; establishing clear KPIs and weekly performance visibility; analyzing data to improve processes and maximize efficiency; ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations; and fostering an engaged, collaborative team culture.
You are an experienced operations manager with 6+ years in the field and 3-5 years managing teams. You thrive in fast-paced, high-responsibility environments and are comfortable operating autonomously. You are an exceptional communicator who adapts quickly to change, solve problems creatively, and are obsessively action-oriented. You have a proven track record of developing people and motivating teams to deliver world-class customer service. Transit experience is a plus. Successful completion of drug test, criminal background check, and motor vehicle records check is required.
