Salary: USD 110,000 - 160,000 / annual
Via is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead on-site daily operations of its intermodal transit service in Montgomery, Alabama. This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role where you'll manage a first-of-its-kind service while building operational infrastructure from the ground up.
You will manage and mentor a team of dispatchers and shift managers, serving as the real-time point of contact for drivers and dispatchers. Key responsibilities include: prioritizing operational issues and providing creative solutions for 24/7 scheduling; developing relationships with driver partners, customers, community leaders, and local organizations; liaising with Via senior management and external partners; establishing clear metrics and KPIs with weekly visibility into results; preparing reports and analyzing data to improve processes and maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction; ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and company policies; and leading, coaching, and developing an engaged team of drivers.
You bring 8–10 years of operations management experience with a proven track record of managing teams (3–5+ years) and developing people. You are an independent self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, high-responsibility environments. You are a savvy, tactful communicator with exceptional leadership skills—people love working with and for you. You are detail-oriented, action-oriented, and comfortable operating autonomously. You excel at managing multiple tasks, delegating, prioritizing, and taking responsibility. You are a problem solver who doesn't accept the status quo and seeks creative solutions. You are flexible, adaptable, and energized by rapid change. Experience in transit is a plus.
Successful completion of a drug test, criminal background check, and motor vehicle records check is mandatory.
