Homeward is a remote-first real estate fintech startup founded in 2018 that simplifies homebuying and selling through innovative financial products. The company offers bundled cash offers, mortgage, and title services across 13 states, enabling buyers and sellers to move with certainty and convenience.
The General Manager will own full P&L responsibility for a large portfolio of residential properties held in inventory, spanning multiple products, regions, and partner relationships. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role reporting directly to the Senior Director of Financial Operations.
Key responsibilities include: managing the complete property lifecycle from acquisition approval through final sale; serving as the final decision maker on purchase offers and pricing strategy; approving all spend on renovations, repairs, and maintenance; ensuring properties meet listing quality standards; adjusting listing strategies to optimize sell-through and reduce days on market; monitoring portfolio risk and intervening on at-risk properties; and collaborating with Sales, Deal Structuring, Finance, and Operations teams.
The role requires coaching and guiding operations partners to improve valuation accuracy, acquisition execution, and listing performance. Success means consistently acquiring high-quality homes, selling the majority for profit in a timely manner, and minimizing loss-making sales while maintaining a profitability-first mindset.
The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of experience in a startup, fast-paced environment, or real estate industry; proven ability to thrive in ambiguous environments; strong understanding of real estate financial outcomes and data-driven decision-making; strategic thinking paired with operational execution; demonstrated leadership ability in unifying cross-functional teams; and excellent project and stakeholder management skills.
