P-1 AI is building Archie, an AI engineer agent for the physical world that operates at the level of a junior mechanical and electrical engineer. The company recently closed a $50M Series A led by NEA with board participation from former GE CEO Jeff Immelt, plus backing from Anthropic and Nominal alumni.
You will build P-1 AI's aerospace & defense business from the ground up, owning end-to-end P&L growth, customer acquisition, and strategic partnerships. This includes establishing P-1 Defense, a FOCI-mitigated subsidiary for regulated defense work.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategy for aerospace & defense expansion, including customer acquisition, market positioning, and long-term growth
- Own full P&L accountability: revenue targets, budgeting, growth initiatives, and operational performance
- Build relationships with engineering leaders, executives, program managers, and government stakeholders across primes, startups, and government customers
- Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships that accelerate customer acquisition and data access
- Translate real-world engineering problems into product requirements by working with customers and forward-deployed engineers
- Establish compliance infrastructure for regulated defense environments (ITAR, NISPOM, industrial security requirements)
- Build team structure, customer workflows, and operating rhythms as the business scales
You bring:
- Proven track record owning P&L for a business unit, startup, or major program
- Experience taking products or businesses from 0→1 and ideally 0→10 in complex industries
- Success negotiating and closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals with long sales cycles
- Ability to credibly engage with engineers, operators, executives, and government customers
- Senior relationships across defense primes, government organizations, or strategic partners
- Fluency in modern AI and relationships across the AI ecosystem
- Exceptional urgency, autonomy, and bias toward action
- Eligibility for US government security clearance (existing clearance is a plus)
Role offers significant autonomy to build a category-defining business around engineering AI, working closely with the CEO and leadership team on strategy and product roadmap.
