Perry Weather is seeking its first General Counsel to build and lead the legal function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the President, you will own all legal matters across the company as it scales from 3,000+ customers (including the PGA, NFL, MLB, Turner Construction, school districts, and cities) to international markets and potential M&A. Key responsibilities include: leading customer contract negotiations across enterprise, government, and public-sector verticals; owning commercial agreements (partnerships, reseller, vendor, SaaS, data, hardware, staffing, NDAs, real estate); handling corporate governance, entity matters, and supporting financings and banking relationships alongside the CFO; managing employment matters and IP protection with the People function; overseeing data privacy, security, and compliance in partnership with the CTO; and serving as the central point person for all legal issues. As the first legal hire, you will build the legal function from scratch, including: creating standardized customer contract templates and negotiation playbooks with pre-approved fallback positions; establishing a legal intake and review process with clear SLAs; implementing and managing legal tech (AI-assisted contract review, document management); building obligation and renewal tracking systems across customers, vendors, and leases; consolidating and managing outside counsel relationships and the legal budget; and providing pragmatic counsel to leadership while training the broader team on contracting basics and legal risk. Perry Weather has grown 80%+ annually for five consecutive years and operates from its Dallas headquarters in the Oak Lawn neighborhood. The role offers the opportunity to shape legal strategy and infrastructure at a high-growth company during a critical scaling phase.
