Salary: USD 140,000 - 205,000 / annual
Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, providing dedicated, secure networks to large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With five satellites on orbit and a backlog exceeding $1 billion in commercial contracts, the company is expanding rapidly.
As an FPGA Engineer, you will own the architecture, design, verification, and test of RTL designs for FPGAs integrated into spacecraft. You'll work closely with software, DSP, and hardware teams to meet stringent design requirements for high-performance systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design RTL for high-performance systems including software-defined radios, avionics, and ground systems for commercial and US Government projects
- Work with multiple FPGAs and toolchains, interfacing with high-speed data converters, memories, and MCUs
- Design, implement, and test radiation mitigation schemes on FPGA
- Collaborate with DSP/radio algorithm designers and embedded firmware/software engineers
- Participate in recruiting and hiring for the rapidly-growing team
Required qualifications:
- US Citizenship or Green Card (legal requirement)
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent
- 2+ years of professional experience
- Passion for hardware development in fast-paced environments
- Experience designing, implementing, verifying, and testing high-throughput FPGA systems
- Strong proficiency with Verilog (preferably SystemVerilog) for synthesis and verification
Bonus qualifications include MS/PhD in computer engineering, experience in DSP/radio design or hi-reliability systems, Xilinx FPGA experience, modern communication systems knowledge, Vivado IDE/TCL proficiency, high-speed data converter experience, digital communication theory, space-based systems experience, and UVM familiarity.
