You will be hired as the Founding Sales Leader for EMEA, tasked with building the region's business from the ground up. While Baseten already has EMEA customers and real demand currently served from the US, you will be the first person on the ground in London with a mandate to localize that business and scale it into a full region.
This is a founding-leader role, not inheriting an established machine. You will be directly involved in deals while making your first hires, with the goal of scaling the EMEA team to 20+ people this year across front-line leaders and individual sellers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own all EMEA segments and markets from top to bottom
- Build and recruit the team: hire and onboard 20+ people this year, including front-line leaders
- Carry the number: build pipeline, run deals, and close business yourself while the team is forming
- Establish Baseten's presence in the region, including the London footprint, reputation with EMEA buyers, and local playbook for enterprise buying
- Adapt the sales motion: take what works in AMER and tune it to how technical buyers in EMEA evaluate and purchase infrastructure
- Partner closely with US-based teams across Sales, Marketing, Revenue Operations, Solutions, and Recruiting, with significant US timezone overlap
- Set the bar for execution, forecasting rigor, and speed as the region scales
The ideal candidate is a player-coach energized by ambiguity and unformed markets, seeking to run a region before a larger company would offer that opportunity.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven hiring track record: you've built teams quickly and hired leaders (not just individual contributors), with people you've developed you can point to
- Second-line leadership experience: you've managed managers and owned a multi-team organization
- Enterprise selling experience against a technical line of business: you can hold your own with engineering and infrastructure buyers and want to deepen knowledge of inference
- Scrappiness: comfortable being the only Baseten person in the region on day one, building pipeline, closing deals, and recruiting simultaneously without bells and whistles
- EMEA fluency: you know the regional markets and understand how enterprise buying differs from the US
- Comfort in fast-moving, high-intensity environments
- Builder's mentality: you own problems and their solutions, and thrive in high-change, unstructured environments
