Orchard Robotics is building AI-powered systems to automate farming and secure America's food supply. The company uses edge vision AI mounted on tractors to scan crops, analyze plant health, and provide precise data to growers through FruitScope OS, a farm-management platform. Backed by $25M+ from leading investors including General Catalyst, Orchard is trusted by major farms nationwide.
As Orchard's first dedicated Recruiting and People Operations hire, you will report directly to the CEO and own the full talent function during the company's most ambitious growth phase. This is a builder role split roughly 2/3 recruiting and 1/3 people operations.
You will lead full-cycle recruiting for critical technical and operations roles, personally sourcing and closing exceptional hires. You'll build repeatable sourcing channels and an exceptional recruiting brand, partner with leaders to define roles and calibrate talent bars, and move candidates quickly through the pipeline. On the people operations side, you'll own the complete employee lifecycle: new hire onboarding, HRIS administration, benefits management, leave administration, and day-to-day HR operations. You'll maintain practical, compliant employment policies and protect Orchard's culture as the company scales from tens to hundreds of employees.
The ideal candidate has 3-7+ years of recruiting experience with real ownership in a fast-growing startup or high-performance environment. You should have a proven track record personally recruiting and closing technical talent, experience scaling organizations from 10s to 100+ employees, and strong sourcing instincts to reach passive candidates. You need hands-on experience with HRIS, benefits, onboarding, and core people operations, plus operating rigor across recruiting funnels and headcount planning.
This is a full-time, in-office role in San Francisco (five days per week). The company offers medical, dental, and vision coverage with 100% of employee premiums covered. You'll work directly with the CEO and every functional leader in a close-knit, highly driven team. The role is motivated by impact: every system built means less food waste and more people fed.
