Peregrine Technologies, backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, builds an AI-enabled platform that transforms siloed data into operational intelligence for public safety organizations, government agencies, and private-sector institutions. The platform currently serves hundreds of customers across 30+ states and two countries, supporting over 125 million people. You will be the founding product marketer for Peregrine's commercial expansion into the private sector, reporting to the VP of Product Marketing. This is a zero-to-one role building the commercial marketing foundation from the ground up, embedded in an integrated pod alongside product, deployment strategists, and sales. Your core responsibilities include: - Conduct deep customer discovery with prospects and early customers in target industries, becoming the expert on how commercial buyers evaluate solutions, their workflows, pain points, and decision criteria. - Build commercial positioning and messaging from scratch, translating proven public sector deployments into evidence that commercial buyers accept, with clear articulation of trust factors: auditability, access controls, and accountable AI. - Test messaging in live deals through first calls, win-loss reviews, and buyer research, refining positioning based on what resonates. - Arm the sales pod with first-call narratives, demo storylines, competitive intelligence, and objection handling for unfamiliar industries. - Develop market expertise quickly: identify incumbents, understand analyst perspectives, learn how buying works, and identify white space in target verticals. - Establish feedback loops from sales calls, demos, and lost deals back into positioning and product direction. - Package deployment proof into commercial-ready evidence: case studies, references, and outcome data that commercial buyers will credit. - As product-market fit emerges, codify repeatable motions: messaging frameworks, enablement assets, and GTM foundation for scale. Success looks like: delivering the commercial case yourself in first calls with skeptical buyers; having the pod reach for your positioning unprompted; making documented pursue-or-pass decisions on verticals; ensuring commercial claims survive procurement and legal review; having deployment proof ready for use; and being pulled into deals early by sales. REQUIREMENTS: - 7+ years in product marketing or adjacent go-to-market roles, including experience taking a product into a new market, launching a new product, or building in an early-stage environment. - Demonstrated authorship that changed an outcome: a positioning document that moved a deal, a roadmap decision, or a market entry call. - Technical fluency with data platforms: understanding of data integration, data modeling, and AI on sensitive data, sufficient to explain, defend, and know when claims overreach. - Strong discovery craft: asking the right questions, hearing what goes unsaid, turning messy qualitative input into clear strategic direction. - Range across the full product marketing stack: positioning, deal support, enablement, and campaign execution. - Comfort treating an unmapped market as a research problem with a deadline. - Judgment to distinguish between verticals where Peregrine is transformational versus a nice-to-have. - Judgment on when a claim is proven versus promising, built from working alongside technical field teams. - Ability to operate across two registers: technical depth for evaluators, plain language for operators.
