Helsing is a defense AI company on a mission to protect democracies by achieving technological leadership in AI for defense applications. The Forward Strategist role sits at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Operations, tackling the company's highest-leverage, most ambiguous problems.
In this role, you will take poorly-defined, high-stakes problems and establish their true nature, building structured paths to resolution while setting direction through uncertainty. You'll deliver end-to-end on these initiatives, working across product, operations, commercial, hardware, legal, and technical domains. You own outcomes until they become reality, making sound, well-evidenced decisions under uncertainty and adapting when facts change.
Key responsibilities include: establishing clarity from chaos and ambiguity; delivering cross-functional outcomes without relying on formal authority; making decisive calls backed by evidence while remaining genuinely open to changing your view; building alignment across teams and stakeholders; and leaving behind processes, tooling, and institutional clarity that scale beyond your personal contribution.
You should have a track record of landing in ambiguous, high-stakes environments with no predefined strategy and turning them into structured, delivered outcomes. Experience building systems or processes that outlasted your involvement and continued generating value is essential. You reason from first principles into unfamiliar domains quickly—whether product, operations, commercial, or technical—and become the person others turn to for answers. You've brought people with you without formal authority, built alignment across teams, and shaped how others think about problems.
Nice-to-have experience includes operating within or alongside product or engineering functions, understanding how software development and deployment decisions get made, and exposure to high-ambiguity environments as a founder, early operator, consultant, or in outcome-driven roles.
