Norm AI is an agentic law company that has pioneered Legal Engineering—a process enabling lawyers to build and supervise domain-specific AI agents using proprietary no-code software tools. The company's technology is deployed across major financial institutions globally. Norm Law, an affiliated AI-native law firm, uses the same platform to advise leading institutions in private funds, private equity, venture capital, real estate, and financial regulation.
As a Staff Product Designer on the Deployment Team, you will design practice-group-specific software that delivers a modern, transparent, and interactive client experience for legal services. This is a forward-deployed role requiring direct collaboration with Norm Law partners, clients, and Forward Deployed Engineers to define ideal attorney and client experiences, transform ambiguous requirements into prototypes and shipped products, and make work tangible for stakeholders.
You will work in a continuous design and delivery loop rather than traditional handoff models. You'll sketch and prototype rapidly, bring strong product perspective, and remain closely involved in implementation and QA. The role demands judgment to balance deep exploration with sharp, timely decisions.
Key responsibilities include leading product design for practice-group-specific software, joining client and partner scoping conversations from day one, turning ambiguous needs into clear workflows and prototypes, designing workflows that help clients and legal teams understand progress and move matters forward, prototyping in code or with AI-assisted tools when beneficial, working alongside engineers through implementation and QA, making high-quality product decisions under real constraints, identifying when solutions should become reusable components or design-system patterns, and bringing client delivery insights back to broader product and engineering teams.
The ideal candidate has 6+ years of product design experience with complex B2B or enterprise products, strong interaction/visual/systems design craft, experience with complex workflow or data-dense software, comfort working through ambiguity, strong client-facing presence, direct partnership experience with engineers from scoping through implementation, ability to move quickly without sacrificing clarity or quality, good taste and strong product judgment, fluency with AI-assisted design and prototyping tools, and a portfolio demonstrating shipped product work. Bonus qualifications include forward-deployed or consulting environment experience, legal/financial/healthcare workflow design background, collaboration tools experience, Git/React/version-controlled prototyping comfort, and early-stage company experience.
