Harvey is an AI platform transforming legal and professional services work through frontier agentic AI, enterprise-grade infrastructure, and deep domain expertise. The company has strong product-market fit, world-class investor backing, and is scaling rapidly.
Harvey's Finance Engineering team consists of former investment professionals who bring real deal experience to prospects and customers. Forward Deployed Finance Engineers lead discovery, demos, pilots, trainings, onboarding, and custom builds alongside Account Executives and Customer Success Managers. They translate real investment work into Harvey solutions and serve as the trust layer across the entire customer lifecycle.
Finance Engineers work on Harvey Deals, a product built from Harvey's acquisition of Benchmark. Harvey Deals is where investment teams run their deals—screening, underwriting, diligence, and committee materials—built in the firm's own templates and formats with full traceability. Harvey works with 150+ asset management firms and analyzes 178M+ documents monthly.
This role is the first Finance Engineer dedicated to buyout. You will build the buyout playbook (demo library, workflow templates, use cases), run live pilots, and lead the buyout practice as the team grows. You'll work with middle-market and lower-middle-market buyout funds, sector specialists, and serial acquirers throughout pre-sales and beyond—leading pilots on live opportunities, guiding sponsors through AI capabilities, and building screening, underwriting, diligence, and investment committee workflows in firm templates.
The work mirrors desk-side deal execution: CIM and management presentation review, QoE and data pack analysis, banker and operating model interrogation, LBO and returns analysis, comps, add-on screening, and investment committee materials. This extends post-close into portfolio monitoring, add-on pipeline tracking, and valuation support. You'll bring deal-team feedback into product development, shaping Harvey's future.
Travel is expected 2–3+ times per month for 1–3 days at a time, always for significant business needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years on the investment team at a buyout fund (middle-market or lower-middle-market, ideally with add-on activity) or a growth-buyout/sector-specialist fund, with demonstrated ownership of live deal work: screening, underwriting, diligence workstreams, modeling, and investment committee materials. Investment banking or transaction advisory experience is welcome, but principal-side deal execution is required.
- Strong command of buyout documents and data: CIM, management presentation, QoE, data pack, banker and operating models, LBO, purchase agreement, financing terms. Instinct for where numbers and paper disagree.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling; comfort with prompting and agentic AI workflows; builder's instinct for turning repeated manual processes into repeatable automation. Python, SQL, or internal tools experience is a plus.
- Executive presence and relationship-building skills; ability to establish credibility from analysts through partners and investment committee members.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills; comfortable leading live demos, facilitating workshops, and holding technical conversations about underwriting assumptions.
- Deep curiosity about AI's potential to transform investment work, paired with practical, solutions-oriented mindset and bias toward action.
- Track record partnering with senior stakeholders to drive results, with curiosity for testing approaches and optimizing for customer outcomes.
- Customer-facing or commercial experience (LP/investor relations, capital formation, banking coverage, business development) and/or hands-on AI tool experience in investment settings are pluses.
