Doppel is an AI-native social engineering defense platform backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Bessemer Venture Partners. The company helps enterprises detect and dismantle attacker infrastructure while strengthening employee resilience through threat-informed training and simulation, unifying Digital Risk Protection, Human Risk Management, and Email Security. As Forward Deployed Engineering Lead, you will lead Doppel's Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team, which owns the onboarding of the company's largest enterprise customers. You'll work directly with major enterprise customers alongside GTM and Product teams to understand onboarding needs, scope and prioritize technical solutions, and build end-to-end systems that integrate customers with Doppel's core offerings. Key responsibilities include: - Lead the FDE team technically: set technical direction, mentor engineers, unblock complex projects, and raise the engineering bar while remaining hands-on - Own strategic deployments: join customers from technical discovery through production rollout, identifying friction points and driving engineering work to get them live - Build end-to-end solutions across APIs, webhooks, SIEM/SOAR platforms, identity systems, email infrastructure, and enterprise security stacks - Turn field learnings into product: identify patterns across customer deployments and convert bespoke solutions into reusable product and platform capabilities - Make deployments increasingly scalable by building systems, automation, and internal tooling - Shape product from the field by creating feedback loops between customers, GTM, Product, and Engineering - Help define FDE's technical boundaries and determine what should graduate into core product versus remain customer-specific You'll be architecting, building, and debugging across complex enterprise systems while maintaining a tight connection between customer needs and product development. As the customer base and product portfolio expand, you'll help turn field insights into reusable capabilities that accelerate future deployments. REQUIREMENTS: - 6+ years building and shipping production software, with technical depth to make architecture decisions and contribute directly to the codebase - Technical leadership experience: you've set technical direction, mentored engineers, and driven complex projects while remaining hands-on - Customer-facing technical depth: experience working directly with complex enterprise customers, uncovering technical needs, and turning ambiguous problems into scoped production systems - Experience with enterprise systems: comfortable working across APIs, webhooks, identity and authentication (OAuth, SAML, SCIM), and enterprise infrastructure; experience with security platforms or SIEM/SOAR ecosystems is a plus - Product instincts: recognize patterns across customer needs and know when something should remain customer-specific versus become reusable product or platform capability - High agency in ambiguity: cut through organizational and technical blockers, figure out who to pull in across Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Engineering, and move customer problems from ambiguity to production - Strong technical judgment and communication: move comfortably between customer calls, system design, debugging with engineers, and working with Product on what should be built next - AI-native mindset: experience building with LLMs, agents, or AI-powered workflows is a plus; most interested in engineers excited to use AI to change how technical customer work gets done
