Juniper Square is hiring Forward Deployed Engineers for Applied AI, the company's custom AI agent engineering unit serving private markets GPs (general partners). You'll work directly with GP clients—CFOs, COOs, technology leaders, fund accountants, and deal teams—to design, build, and deploy AI-powered agents that solve operational workflows. This is a full-stack role combining product thinking with hands-on engineering.
You'll own work across the complete delivery lifecycle: discovery and requirements translation, design, build, deployment, and ongoing operation. You'll sit alongside a senior engineer leading each engagement, contributing independently while supported by a world-class team. Success is measured by adoption and real user impact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with clients to identify workflows where custom AI agents create leverage
- Translating ambiguous business problems into clear requirements and acceptance criteria
- Designing and building agentic systems: retrieval, context design, tool/MCP integration, orchestration, evaluation harnesses, observability, and cost controls
- Working hands-on across client-edge solutions and integrating with Juniper Square's platform and product teams
- Making engineering trade-offs that balance speed with reliability, security, and maintainability
- Operating deployed solutions through adoption, iterating on user feedback
- Producing documentation, training users, and supporting rollouts
You'll contribute patterns and reusable components back to Applied AI's library, and this role is designed to grow into leading engagements independently.
