As FinOps Manager reporting to the Head of Finance, you will own the complete finance operations function for this early-stage, growing business. This is a hands-on manager-level individual contributor role—not a junior support position.
You will be responsible for:
**Finance Operations & Controls:** Day-to-day ownership of accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, company cards, and supplier onboarding. Manage the end-to-end supplier invoice process including coding, approval tracking, payment scheduling, and documentation. Own customer and intercompany invoicing, recurring invoices, and debtor follow-up. Prepare and manage regular payment runs with appropriate controls. Oversee employee expenses and spend-management processes. Complete regular reconciliations (bank, card, supplier, customer, intercompany). Identify and manage duplicate or unnecessary recurring spend. Introduce and maintain practical controls across purchasing, approvals, payments, and supplier management. Ensure finance policies and approval limits are understood and followed.
**Month-End & Management Accounts:** Own the monthly close timetable and drive all actions to completion. Prepare month-end journals (accruals, prepayments, payroll, fixed assets, deferred revenue, FX adjustments). Maintain balance-sheet reconciliation schedules. Review the general ledger for unusual or incorrectly coded transactions. Produce monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow and runway reporting, budget-versus-actual analysis, departmental reporting, KPIs, and variance commentary. Support investor, board, and stakeholder reporting.
**Budgeting & Forecasting:** Maintain company budget and rolling forecast in collaboration with departmental owners. Support half-year and annual budget preparation. Track spend by department, supplier, and cost category. Provide timely reporting and follow up on variances. Support cash-flow forecasting, burn analysis, and runway management.
You will independently prioritize work, establish what needs to be done, coordinate internal stakeholders and external advisers, and drive tasks through to completion. You'll escalate material risks and decisions but won't need day-to-day management. A key focus is leveraging modern finance software, integrations, and pragmatic automation to operate an effective lean finance function. You'll assess where technology can remove repetitive work, improve controls, and strengthen data quality without overengineering. While not expected to provide specialist tax or legal advice, you will own those processes internally—gathering information, briefing advisers, managing deadlines, reviewing outputs, and coordinating approvals.
