Torc Robotics, now part of the Daimler family, is seeking a FinOps Engineer to lead cloud cost management and optimization across the organization. This role is central to driving financial accountability and efficiency in cloud infrastructure spending.
You will own the full FinOps lifecycle—Inform, Optimize, and Operate phases—managing cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, anomaly detection, and governance across multi-cloud environments. Key responsibilities include designing cost models, implementing tagging and allocation strategies, optimizing rate structures (reserved instances, savings plans, committed use discounts), and building showback/chargeback models and dashboards for stakeholders.
You'll collaborate closely with engineering, finance, and procurement teams using Lean-Agile methodologies. Your work will include root cause analysis of cost anomalies and budget variances, identifying underutilized or misconfigured resources, and ensuring infrastructure changes don't regress cost efficiency through forecasting and scenario analysis.
You'll also design and implement systems for aggregating and analyzing cloud billing and usage data organization-wide, communicate cost trends and savings opportunities to technical and financial stakeholders, and foster a culture of cost accountability across engineering teams.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience. FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) certification is preferred. You should have strong technical proficiency in cloud cost management tooling, data governance, and financial controls, combined with excellent communication skills and a passion for cloud economics.
