AngelList Venture is building the financial infrastructure for private markets—exchanges, custodians, brokers, and platforms that enable ordinary people to invest in private companies. With $200B+ in assets under management and 30,000+ startups funded on the platform, the company is expanding Nova, its banking network, to scale private market infrastructure.
As Financial Partnerships Lead, you will own the end-to-end partnership strategy for Nova's banking and infrastructure ecosystem. This is a high-agency role reporting to leadership with direct impact on the company's ability to scale.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute partnership strategy in collaboration with product, defining the roadmap for Nova's banking and infrastructure partners
- Own partner selection, market mapping, diligence, and commercial negotiations from initial outreach through contract close
- Lead the search for new banking partners, payment providers, and infrastructure providers as Nova expands its offerings
- Manage network resilience by monitoring deposit concentration, maintaining redundancy for critical partners, and renegotiating or replacing partners as business needs evolve
- Serve as the senior escalation point and relationship owner for each partner, interfacing with their working teams and executives
- Lead third-party oversight in collaboration with Risk, Compliance, and AML teams, including partner audits, diligence requests, and issue remediation
- Translate between technical (APIs, payment rails, reconciliation) and business contexts, explaining partner capabilities and constraints to Product and leadership
You will work in a 200-person company where titles are suggestions and agency is high. The role requires comfort with ambiguity, the ability to make high-stakes decisions with incomplete information, and a track record of building and managing complex partnerships.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in bank partnerships, fintech partnerships, treasury programs, deposit programs, or banking
- Demonstrated experience managing partner banks, sweep networks, payment providers, or infrastructure providers
- Deep knowledge of how banks oversee fintech partners, including third-party risk management, BSA/AML compliance, and FDIC insurance for custodial deposits
- Proven ability to negotiate complex commercial agreements alongside legal counsel and model economics before signing
- Technical fluency: can discuss APIs, payment rails, and reconciliation with engineers, then translate partner constraints and capabilities to Product in plain terms
- Ability to manage multiple high-stakes relationships simultaneously without a playbook, make decisions before data is complete, and write clear memos for leadership decision-making
- Proactive mindset around using AI and automation to increase personal leverage and efficiency
