Chai Discovery is building a design suite for molecules using frontier AI models that learn biochemical structure and interaction. The company partners with leading pharmaceutical companies like Eli Lilly, Pfizer, and Novartis to power drug discovery programs.
This is Chai's first dedicated finance hire—a critical role owning the complete financial operating system. You will manage the monthly close process, establish a trusted view of cash flow and spending patterns, oversee the financial model and cash forecast, and implement reporting infrastructure that provides leadership with actionable insights without unnecessary process overhead.
The financial landscape is complex: frontier AI compute acquisition, multi-partner data spend, pharma contracts with revenue recognition and compliance obligations. You'll bring order to this complexity and free founders to focus on core mission.
You are a financial generalist with hands-on capability across the full stack—accounting, FP&A, operations. You're tech-savvy and AI-fluent, comfortable fixing broken workflows rather than accepting them. You've worked in early-stage and growth-stage startups, learned from strong financial operators, and have conviction about best practices. You're detail-oriented, low-ego, high-agency, and willing to roll up your sleeves on any task.
