ARQ is a fast-growing fintech building cross-border payment infrastructure. You will join as Financial Controller & Regulatory Reporting Officer in the Gibraltar office, reporting directly to the Group Controller.
You will own the financial backbone of two entities: ARQ Gibraltar (regulated under DLT license by the FSC) and ARQ UK (a cost centre). Your responsibilities span financial control, regulatory reporting, and operational oversight across both jurisdictions.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Control & Reporting: Own the month-end close process for Gibraltar, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements under IFRS. Maintain P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements monthly. Manage the chart of accounts, classify transactions accurately, and handle intercompany reconciliations between Gibraltar and other group entities in line with Transfer Pricing Policy. Support statutory accounts preparation and liaise with external auditors.
Cost Centre Oversight: Oversee ARQ UK's financial operations, including monthly cost review and variance analysis. Ensure costs are correctly allocated, accrued, and reported per group policies. Monitor budgets versus actuals and escalate material variances. Coordinate with UK stakeholders to gather and validate financial data.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Contribute to annual budgeting for both entities. Prepare rolling forecasts with commentary on performance drivers. Develop financial models to support business decisions and scenario planning.
Controls & Compliance: Design and maintain robust internal controls for both entities. Ensure adherence to group accounting policies and flag deviations. Serve as primary contact with outsourced accounting provider, coordinating financial statement preparation. Manage tax calculation, provisioning, and payment in collaboration with external advisors. Monitor full compliance with Gibraltar and UK regulatory requirements, escalating risks promptly.
Requirements:
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- 5+ years of experience in financial control, accounting, or audit roles
- Proven track record owning month-end close and preparing statutory-quality financial statements
- Experience working in or with regulated financial services entities
- Strong knowledge of IFRS or UK GAAP
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets; comfortable with complex financial models and SQL
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a lean team
Nice to have:
- Experience with multi-entity or multi-jurisdiction accounting environments
- Experience with Gibraltar and/or UK regulatory reporting frameworks
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
