Salary: USD 148,500 - 208,000 / annual
Squarespace is seeking a Finance Manager to serve as the primary FP&A business partner to the R&D organization, including Engineering and Product teams. This high-autonomy role oversees the financial health of a large, complex technology portfolio and will be instrumental in building financial infrastructure to track AI costs, evaluate ROI, and translate technology spend into strategic insights for senior leadership.
Key responsibilities include: serving as the primary finance business partner for R&D, owning the full planning cycle (monthly close, forecasting, annual planning); building and owning financial frameworks to track AI-related costs end-to-end, including model API usage, inference costs, GPU/cloud compute infrastructure, AI tooling, and AI-related headcount; developing ROI methodologies and scorecards for AI initiatives; monitoring AI spend efficiency metrics and surfacing trends proactively; partnering with Engineering, Product, and Data Science teams to create visibility into how AI costs scale with product usage; collaborating with the FinOps team on cloud infrastructure cost tracking and optimization; tracking and forecasting all R&D investments globally; performing variance analysis and delivering actionable recommendations; presenting financial results and strategic insights to executive stakeholders; and identifying process improvements.
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of FP&A or related finance experience, preferably supporting technical or R&D organizations. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting; deep expertise in financial modeling and FP&A systems (Workday, NetSuite); Excel mastery; ability to operate with high autonomy; strong strategic thinking skills; intellectual curiosity about emerging technology and AI cost structures; proven ability to communicate complex financial topics to non-financial stakeholders; and a self-starter mentality. The role reports to the FP&A Director and is based in the New York City office.
