DTX Pharma, a Novartis Company, seeks an Executive Director to lead the US Strategic Projects team. Reporting to the VP of US Strategy & Execution, you will own the strategic project portfolio delivery model, resource deployment, engagement standards, and quality control for high-impact enterprise initiatives.
Key responsibilities include defining the US Strategic Projects operating model, intake standards, staffing model, and quality bar. You will select, scope, and mobilize priority strategic projects with senior sponsors, ensuring clear problem statements, measurable outcomes, and execution ownership. You'll lead a portfolio of strategic projects, managing throughput, capacity, risks, dependencies, and leadership escalations across a core team of Strategy Engagement Leads and Associates.
This role requires guiding Directors and project teams through ambiguous, high-stakes work requiring structured problem-solving, data-backed recommendations, and cross-functional alignment. You will ensure project outputs move beyond recommendations to implementation-ready roadmaps with defined KPIs, owners, and governance handoffs. A key objective is building internal strategy project capability and reducing reliance on external consultants for recurring strategic work.
You will interface closely with senior leadership including US leadership team project sponsors, Therapeutic Area and Functional leaders, and cross-functional leaders. The team has capacity to support four US strategic projects per quarter. This position requires up to 20% travel (domestic and/or international) and is based in East Hanover, NJ with no remote work option. Local candidates only; no relocation assistance provided.
Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field and 12+ years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, enterprise transformation, commercial strategy, strategic operations, or large-scale program leadership. Proven ability to lead multiple high-profile strategic initiatives in a matrix environment with senior stakeholders and no direct authority over functions. Strong project portfolio leadership, executive communication, facilitation, problem framing, change navigation, and business impact orientation.
Preferred: Advanced degree (Master of Science and/or MBA), top-tier strategy consulting background, pharma/healthcare strategy experience, commercial operations, AI/digital, or enterprise transformation expertise. Experience translating strategy into measurable execution with senior leadership teams.
