Etched is building specialized hardware and software infrastructure for frontier AI inference workloads. The company designs chips, racks, and manufacturing processes to optimize throughput and latency, backed by hundreds of millions in Series A funding from top-tier investors.
You will lead the external financial reporting and equity accounting functions for a rapidly scaling, venture-backed company on a path to public markets. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll own the full spectrum of technical accounting challenges while building scalable processes and controls from the ground up.
Key responsibilities include: owning stock-based compensation accounting, equity reconciliations, EPS and dilution calculations, and equity-related SEC disclosures; partnering with Payroll, Legal, and Stock Administration to ensure accurate equity transaction recording and alignment across cap table, equity systems, and general ledger; leading preparation and filing of Forms 10-Q, 10-K, financial statement footnotes, MD&A, and XBRL tagging; serving as primary accounting partner for external auditors and maintaining SOX controls; evaluating new accounting standards and SEC requirements; and leading selection, implementation, and optimization of Workiva or similar reporting platforms to automate workflows.
You'll research and document technical accounting positions for complex transactions, including equity modifications and non-routine matters. The role requires deep expertise in US GAAP, SEC reporting, and hands-on equity accounting experience. You'll manage multiple deadlines during close periods and drive process improvement initiatives.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA (required or actively pursuing); 10+ years progressive accounting experience with significant SEC reporting exposure (public company or Big 4 with SEC clients); strong working knowledge of US GAAP, SEC requirements, and XBRL; hands-on equity accounting experience; experience with external reporting software like Workiva; advanced Excel and ERP systems (NetSuite). Ideal candidates have Big 4 public accounting background, equity management platform experience (Carta, Shareworks, etc.), system implementation leadership, high-growth or newly public company experience, and strong project management skills.
