Rubrik is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Polaris Platform to lead the database team within Rubrik Security Cloud (RSC), a SaaS control plane serving enterprise customers. RSC is built on fundamental infrastructure components including microservices architecture, Kubernetes deployment systems, distributed job workflow engines, and MySQL database instances.
The database team is responsible for managing all metadata required to operate RSC, supporting a multi-tenant architecture that serves a diverse and growing set of customers and internal product teams. This role focuses on ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance of the platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and driving the product component roadmap
- Providing leadership to projects from inception through implementation
- Championing continuous improvement with a metrics-driven culture
- Enabling the team to self-organize and achieve sustained high velocity and predictability
- Growing employees through career development, coaching, and mentoring while guiding senior contributors
- Fostering collaboration with Product Management, Architects, and Program Management
- Solving customer problems and cascading customer passion within the team
Required experience:
- 10+ years of software development experience with 1-2 years in an engineering management role
- Proven ability to build technically strong teams
- Experience delivering enterprise-quality, scalable distributed systems with high quality standards
- Background in Cloud/SaaS and on-premises platform environments
- Experience building and cultivating strong engineering practices and processes
- Experience working with cross-geo global engineering teams
- Computer Science degree or equivalent
- Database systems experience preferred
