Salary: USD 170,000 - 265,000 / annual

You will lead the Advisor Experience engineering team, a new team within Addepar's Core Product Engineering organization focused on building products and experiences that define how financial advisors and their clients interact on the platform. Initially, the team will focus on the Secure Message Center—a compliant messaging experience built into Addepar's client portal—but the scope extends to broader advisor-client workflows.
As Engineering Manager, you will lead a small, growing group of engineers and shape both technical direction and team culture from the early stages. You'll partner closely with product management and design to translate an ambitious product vision into shipped software.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of full-stack engineers, building a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
- Partner with product and design to define roadmaps, prioritize work, and deliver initiatives that shape the advisor-client experience
- Own the team's technical direction—guide architecture decisions, conduct design reviews, and provide meaningful feedback in code reviews
- Drive execution using well-defined goal-setting frameworks, balancing ambitious delivery with sustainable engineering practices
- Recruit and hire engineers as the team grows, setting high bars for technical ability and collaborative fit
- Collaborate across engineering teams to ensure Advisor Experience products integrate cleanly with Addepar's broader platform (client portal, reporting infrastructure, data layer)
- Champion operational excellence—own the team's approach to testing, deployment, incident response, and technical debt management
Requirements:
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a people management or team leadership role
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong full-stack technical background—comfortable reviewing architecture from Java or similar backend systems to modern frontend frameworks (React, Ember, Svelte)
- Effective technical leader who stays close enough to guide design decisions, unblock engineers, and maintain high code review standards
- Experience building and growing engineering teams (hiring, structuring interview loops, scaling through growth)
- Clear, direct communicator who translates between technical details and business outcomes for product, design, and leadership stakeholders
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows
- Experience with real-time communication systems, messaging infrastructure, or client-facing portal experiences (strong plus)
- Background or strong interest in fintech, wealth management, or financial advisor workflows (strong plus)
