Apex manufactures satellite buses (commercial spacecraft platforms) at scale, combining software, vertical integration, and hardware designed for manufacturing. The company enables earth observation, communications, and other space-based applications. You will own the integrity and evolution of product designs and operational systems, sitting at the intersection of engineering, operations, and production. You act as the control layer ensuring every change is tracked, assessed, and executed without breaking existing systems. You govern how the company manages BOMs, implements design changes, and coordinates high-stakes operational updates across satellites, ground systems, and infrastructure. Key responsibilities include: - Establish change management policies, standards, and governance frameworks - Own and maintain product BOM structures and configuration baselines - Lead Change Control Board meetings and processes - Perform impact analysis and risk assessment for all engineering changes - Coordinate ECO (Engineering Change Order) implementation across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams - Drive configuration audits to verify hardware-software-documentation alignment across production units - Analyze change-related incidents and drive corrective actions to reduce failure rates - Resolve conflicts between competing priorities and schedule changes to avoid operational disruptions - Partner with supply chain to ensure BOMs are executable and changes don't create procurement risks - Identify automation opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and reduce manual governance overhead - Act as the bridge between design, production, operations, and test to drive continuous improvement REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations, or related technical field - 7+ years of experience in configuration management, change management, or engineering operations - Hands-on experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia, or equivalent) - Experience managing engineering changes (ECR/ECO) through full release and production cycles - Proven ability to lead cross-functional boards and drive accountability across teams - Strong risk assessment and impact analysis skills for hardware, software, and infrastructure changes - Experience supporting aerospace, satellite, telecommunications, or mission-critical environments - Ability to read technical documentation, drawings, and specifications - Strong ownership mindset in fast-paced, high-ambiguity startup environments NICE TO HAVE: - Master's degree in engineering, business administration, or related fields - Certification in configuration management - Experience with aerospace standards (AS9100, ARP4754, DO-160/178) - Background in satellite systems, avionics, propulsion, or ground infrastructure - Experience working with contract manufacturers and managing BOM execution at scale - Scripting or data analysis skills (Python, SQL) for metrics and reporting automation - Experience in high-reliability or high-rate production environments
