Anthropic is seeking an Energy Scheduling & Portfolio Lead to own energy availability across its non-cloud data center portfolio. This is a foundational role building energy scheduling and portfolio management from the ground up.
You will maintain the live view of energy availability risk and need—contracted, available, and committed energy and capacity at each site against planned load and ramp. You'll be the operational counterpart to Load Serving Entities (LSEs), Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs), scheduling coordinators, and suppliers in domestic ISO/RTOs (including ERCOT) and international power markets, managing Anthropic's participation in utility and ISO market programs.
Key responsibilities include predicting and tracking curtailment across utility, ISO, fuel, equipment, and contract drivers; navigating shortage pricing and reliability events; and coordinating load response with site operations and workload planning. You'll oversee the portfolio's load-flexibility capability and demand-response participation, ensuring commitments align with actual compute flexibility.
For operating sites, you'll manage counterparty performance under Energy Supply Agreements (ESAs), including outage notices, availability guarantees, liquidated damages, and dispatch coordination. You'll determine gas scheduling needs for behind-the-meter supply, manage nominations and pipeline capacity, and build relationships with external commodity partners.
You'll develop Anthropic's energy forecasting as a tool for availability-risk assessment, providing consumption forecasts per site, cost projections against ESA and PPA terms, and market price exposure analysis. You'll supply energy-side inputs for financial reconciliation and track market information (ISO/RTO prices, gas hub prices, tariff changes) that affects the portfolio position.
Cross-functional collaboration is essential: working with energy finance on portfolio financial management, data center operations on site load and flexibility, and teams across workload planning, engineering, legal, and procurement to keep the energy position aligned with physical reality. You'll build and own the processes, data, and tooling supporting all functions, partnering on metering, telemetry, and load data.
