Neko Health is a preventative healthcare company using proprietary technology and clinical care to deliver personalized health insights in a single, non-invasive visit. As Employment and Commercial Counsel, you will build out the legal function for Neko's US expansion, reporting to the General Counsel in Sweden.
Your primary responsibilities include owning labor and employment matters across the US business—employee relations, workplace investigations, wage and hour compliance, terminations, and leave issues—which will grow as US headcount scales rapidly. You'll provide legal advisory support to operations, engineering, clinical, and regulatory teams on commercial law, data protection, marketing, IP, and compliance matters. Contract management is a core function: you'll review and negotiate commercial agreements including software, technology, supplier, and collaboration contracts.
You'll identify and mitigate legal risk across operations, technology, and healthcare services during expansion. Compliance work includes monitoring and advising on privacy and healthcare regulations in the US and other key markets, collaborating with the Global Privacy Lead on data protection agreements, terms of service, and privacy notices. You'll also support corporate governance by developing and implementing risk and compliance policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate has a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active admission to a US State Bar (New York preferred). You'll bring 8–10 years of relevant legal experience, ideally split between a leading US law firm and in-house counsel. Substantial hands-on experience in labor and employment law is essential, along with strong commercial and corporate law grounding and a track record of drafting and negotiating complex agreements. You should be commercially minded, comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment, and skilled at collaborating across functions. Experience with healthcare regulations, IP, data protection, or supporting rapid US headcount growth is a plus.
