Scale AI is seeking an Employee Relations Partner to independently manage a full caseload of employee relations matters across North America, reporting to the Senior Director of Employee Relations. This role is central to Scale's mission of building reliable AI systems and requires someone who can navigate complex, ambiguous workplace issues with sound judgment and legal acumen. Key responsibilities include: independently managing a diverse caseload of employee relations cases across the US and supporting Mexico as needed, encompassing performance management, investigations, and separations. You will diagnose novel workplace issues and construct clear resolution paths when precedent is unclear. You'll conduct thorough, legally-sound workplace investigations from intake through closure, advise and coach managers through sensitive performance and conduct conversations, and partner directly with Legal to assess risk and align on documentation and strategy. You will maintain defensible case documentation in HR Acuity (the company's case management system), manage separations end-to-end in coordination with Workplace and Legal teams, and support HR Business Partners with ER training, policy guidance, and escalation triage. Additionally, you'll contribute to scaling ER infrastructure, including the Whistleblower Hotline and Competitors Escalation Program. Required qualifications: 5+ years of employee relations experience with direct ownership of workplace investigations; a proven track record solving genuinely ambiguous, first-of-their-kind cases rather than executing existing playbooks; strong working knowledge of US employment law; experience supporting global teams; familiarity with formal ER case management systems; excellent written communication and documentation skills; and sound judgment handling highly confidential and sensitive information. Desirable qualifications include experience supporting ER matters outside the US (Mexico preferred), experience in high-growth tech or startup environments, experience building or scaling ER processes and infrastructure from early stage, and experience supporting EMEA region employees. Scale AI is an AI data and technology company working with industry leaders like Meta, EY, Mayo Clinic, and US government agencies. The company is committed to inclusive hiring and provides comprehensive benefits including health/dental/vision coverage, retirement benefits, learning and development stipends, generous PTO, and potential commuter stipends.
