Hex is a collaborative analytics and data science workspace that empowers users to explore data using natural language, with or without code. The company has raised over $100M from leading investors including Sequoia and a16z, and serves thousands of customers like Ramp, Figma, Stubhub, and Anthropic.
You will own the complete employee experience at Hex, reporting to the Head of People. This is a high-visibility role that shapes how employees experience working at the company across multiple dimensions:
ONBOARDING: Redesign and host the new hire onboarding experience from pre-boarding through week two and beyond. Your goal is to make new employees feel productive, connected, and genuinely thrilled to be at Hex by the end of week two—not month two. You'll act as narrator and host, designing cohort-based micro-communities that create lasting connections. You'll also instrument onboarding to measure success and continuously raise the bar.
COMMUNICATIONS: Transform all-hands meetings and company moments into intentional storytelling experiences rather than logistical exercises. You'll reset Slack norms and communication practices to reduce overwhelm and help the team focus on what matters.
EVENTS: Own the company kickoff (CKO) end-to-end, partner with the revenue team on quarterly business reviews, and build a self-serve portal for team leads to run great team offsites with standardized templates, budgets, and activity ideas.
WORKPLACE: Project manage the New York office buildout, lead the SF and NYC office coordinators, and drive in-office engagement through programming, food, and amenities that pull people in.
You'll work in the San Francisco office at least three days per week, alongside a team that values in-person collaboration. Hex has office hubs in San Francisco and New York, with remote team members throughout the US and UK.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven track record as a storyteller and host who can hold a room, land a narrative, and make people feel something. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are non-negotiable.
- Experience running events, onboarding programs, workplace initiatives, or internal communications and turning them into durable, repeatable systems (not one-offs).
- High-agency mindset with comfort in ambiguity. Ability to identify high-leverage moments in the employee journey, set direction, and execute without waiting for a roadmap.
- Instinctive partnership with AI and automation—reaching for automation on repeatable work so energy goes to high-craft, human moments.
- Track record of out-of-distribution thinking and designing memorable experiences that people didn't ask for but remember.
- Commitment to holding a high bar for quality in both what you ship and how every person experiences it.
