Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is seeking an Electric Power System Lead to design, develop, integrate, and field next-generation autonomous aircraft systems. You will define and execute the vision of the aircraft power system from concept to production, including power generation, regulation, distribution, power quality, and control. Your responsibilities include designing and developing state-of-the-art high-power systems optimized for performance and reliability in harsh environments (high altitude, radiation, etc.), designing custom power electronics for high power and high voltage applications, and designing an uninterruptible power system with high-capacity battery. You will conduct make-vs-buy trade studies, select and test modules for aircraft integration, and build a world-class power electronics lab. You will ensure system performance and reliability through rigorous verification, debug complex electrical design and environmental issues, and lead multiple engineers dedicated to power system design. Additionally, you will drive cross-functional teams to execute top-level architecture, provide mentorship and design reviews, and deliver program execution leadership in a fast-paced environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Power system design experience on large aircraft or equivalent (rocket, satellite, submarine, etc.)
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated track record of delivering power system and power electronics products to market
- Proficiency with electrical engineering development tools, simulation, and test equipment
- Strong technical fundamentals and analysis capabilities
